MAY & October

Today's meeting was a load of fun.

Many new faces, and a few regulars, made for an exciting day of show and tell, and group collaboration.

At our last meeting we had a challenge for everyone to bring a strip piece to contribute to a quilt, any size, up to 65" long... And we as a group would figure the layout and put the quilt together...

You'd think with such a wide variety of prints and fabrics, that it might not work well together...

But that was so not a problem.  We quickly laid them out and decided a layout that worked for everyone.  Now to put it together, get it quilted and bound, and figure a plan for our group collaborations...

We made a plan for our
next
GROUP CHALLENGE.
We quickly decided, by flipping a coin,
for our next meeting

Please bring with you a 12.5" block,
any MONOCHROMATIC block design
based on this COLOR above.
(however you perceive it...)

It's not quite yellow, and not quite orange...

This idea was based on Helen's mono colored Quilt that we all ooh'd and awe'd over.
Helen used 1" strips on her quilt, and we all loved the idea.

Your block does NOT need to be strips.
We are looking for how ever you interpret a block in the monochromatic style...
Tone on tones sort of effects...

Basically, we will have one BRIGHT, Make your Skirt Fly up,
Fabulous GOLDEN toned quilt.

Any questions please comment, and we can get back to you.

  1. I'm sorry I wasn't able to be at Saturday's meeting. It looks like I missed seeing some wonderful (and inspiring) work. Love Helen's mono quilt! The challenge idea sounds like fun. I'm now pulling out all my yellow/golds/oranges from my stash to see what I can come up with. Hope to see you all in December. Carole

  2. I love it! And the name, Beddah Cheddah. I cannot wait to see what you guys do with this very unorthodox colour, which reminds me of my Grandpa's favourite ultrasharp cheddar, "Old Nippy".
