Okay, talking process here!

First I just want to say I think David and Jessica have a great idea here!
Thanks for putting it together.

I am currently take a class that is all about orphan blocks and putting them together
I was inspired to take the class after I saw Victoria's kitchen sink quilt

I love the scrapiness of the whole thing,
not to mention the idea of using up what I have.
I am working on areas of the quilt that seem easier to piece right now.

I laid this all out in the classroom.

When I got it home, I realized it was going to be rather difficult to piece.
I have moved things around a bit, but I still want it to look very random
and all over the place.
I think I can achieve this without having to do a "y" seem at every intersection.
My biggest obstacle at the moment is that I don't have a "design wall",
but a "design floor" in my sewing room and my knees are killing me!
Advil please!

  2. It's lovely, LISA! Take the "Y" out of your thinking and try using, "PIVOT" it's an easier word to wrap your brain around... ;-) A little trick I use... have fun with it!

  4. This is going to be amazing. I think I like the wonky tree the best. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

  5. Lisa, I had the same "very random" piecing problem with my first block for the intuition quilt. What worked for me was: if a piece was too short, I added on ... & if it was too long, I cut it off.

  6. A tip for a design wall: A flannel backed table cloth can be hung on any empty wall space using straight pins. Inexpensive and can be rolled up, taken down and stored if necessary - even with the blocks still attached. Mine is in the upstairs hallway just outside my quilting room.
P.S. I've never taken it down. LOL
