Quilts & Inspiration

I'm no painter, but I can piece fabric like a maniac. So when one of the neighborhood blogs I work on was planning an art series based on works created for the site previously, I couldn't resist turning this gorgeous painting by Amanda Kavanagh into a quilt. The painting shows a building down the street from me that glows when the sun is setting, and I tried my best to capture that in this little quilt, and do the painting justice, as well.

  5. I am fascinated by the comparison. You have kept so many of the architectural details....even the TV antenna! Amazing work!

  6. Bravo! The painter must be thrilled to see her work interpreted in such a creative way. Both are amazing.

  10. Thank you all! I think I'm going to luck out and be able to buy the painting, so it will be great fun to see them side by side in real life.
