Sunbonnet Who?

Hi all,
I'm playing catch-up with blocks for my mod bee queens.....!

For May, E asked us to do a modern day Sunbonnet Sue or Sam.  She gave us each a background fabric and a few pieces in a yellow, gray, and white palette.  As soon as I saw it, I thought of this Jay McCarroll brick print in my scrap drawer and making a "graffiti sue."  She may not be the most upstanding citizen, but quite the artist in her own right, don't you think?

I also added a little embroidery for the spray!  Hope you like her, E!

And for June, Kimberly sent us vintage sheet scraps for this pretty block:
I agree with Chrissie D  - this is a fun and pretty easy block to sew, but even when you chain piece, you are back and forth to the iron like a madwoman....and I had my iron right next to me! haha!

Anyway, with the vintage sheets, this should turn out to be an incredibly soft and sweet quilt.....can't wait to see it all together!

  1. Loving your Graffiti SBS! When I made the Dutch Rose block I tried telling myself it was good to keep getting up and down from the machine so much - my hips need the exercise to stop them seizing up!
