Landscape Fiction Inspired by Chris Doyle
Our assignment was to layer brights of some
natural element over a deep toned wonky background
and then
outline an additional natural element over the top.
This was a lot of fun that I made another
of flowers (cone, cosmos & lavender) in my summer garden.
they are truly wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely - I knew it was your garden!
ReplyDeleteI want that garden. Will you come to Brooklyn and plant it for me? (Beautiful blocks, by the way.)
ReplyDeleteWonderful fun
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!
ReplyDeleteEach flower is special - how did you do the little purple ones at the bottom? The whole effect is so summery and cheerful and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteTook a small piece of purple fabric, ironed Wonder-Under to that, cut out wiggles, removed the backing, pressed each wiggle in place on the quilt & finally sewed it in place with some variegated thread.
Deletenice!
Deleteand of course you would do two, Margaret!
ReplyDeleteThat was not my plan, Jody. I actually began the flower one first. Starting at the top, I sewed the stems after each row of flowers was attached. As I was doing the white ones, I realized I was not following the directions because I was putting flowers over what was supposed to be the overlay. Also, I felt it was getting to be "too much" as one block in a quilt. So I started over & simplified ... hence the fish. But I went back & finished the first one & I plan on gifting it as a mini.
DeleteThis is astounding, Margaret! I love love love the cosmos. So many beautiful graphic elements!
ReplyDeleteJust fantastic!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautifully rendered! I have those coneflowers, too, but not the cosmos. I want some!
ReplyDeleteBoth are so charming!
