This event will include a live Quilters’ S.O.S. – Save Our Stories (Q.S.O.S.) oral history interview with Denyse Schmidt (above left), iconic quiltmaker, teacher and entrepreneur whose stunning couture and custom quilts (since 1996) and “work” quilts (since 2003) reinterpret traditional patterns with a modern sensibility. This cocktail party fundraiser will feature and celebrate the full spectrum of quilting and quilters today. From a hands-on quilt performance to old time music we’ll experience why quilts are still making a not-so-soft impact on culture and history like no other material culture. Rub elbows with our event speakers, Quilt Alliance members and partners who are leading the charge in creating and documenting the next wave of quilt history. Cocktails, demonstrations and music in the cozy yet sophisticated studio and home of Victoria Findlay Wolfe (above), co-founder of the New York City Metro Area Modern Quilt Guild, owner of Bumble Beans, Inc. and founder of the Bumble Beans Basics charity project.
