April 2024 Meeting Recap

We had a lovely April meeting!

Marilyn and team kicked us off by showing their handmade pillow cases to be donated in memory of a former NY Modern Quilters member Lisa Mason. Big thank you to all the participants and Maureen for coordinating!

Laurie then showed her Tilda Color Dance quilt

With an even more colorful backing!

Following the color theme, Debbie then followed up with a stunning string quilt. This is all quilted into muslin.

Giving an impressive back display too!

Sam - a proud mom - made a banner for her soon-to-be-graduating-daughter. This cutie was made with the Blank Pages FPP patterns.

Kira then showed her medallion quilt - hand quilted! Amazing finish!

Andrea showed her FPP project - the first she’s done with freezer paper and she highly recommends it!

Nanette wowed the crowd with a gorgeous rendition of the Starry Night painting by Van Gogh. Much of this was made with a pack from FabScrap and scraps from our scrap table.

Bruce then showed three patterned fabrics he has made in Spoonflower. This one called Dragon Tango.

This adorable plaid-like fabric is made with pictures of crackers!

Finally, Bruce explained the process of repeating the pattern. Here are two explainers for those interested:

Asher then showed their beautiful quilt for their sister. Pattern by Quilty Architect. They plan to make this an interactive quilt. Here’s a quick explainer on conductive thread for those interested.

Finally, Sophia - a very welcome guest - showed her beautiful appliquéd, hand quilted pillow cases. Great work, Sophia!
